3rd Film Appreciation Course begins At MSFTI

Imphal, August 06 2026: The 3rd edition of the Film Appreciation Course, organised by Manipur State Film and Television Institute in collaboration with the International Federation of Film Critics-India, commenced today at the Classroom Theatre of MSFTI .

The inaugural function of the 20-day course was graced by dignitaries, including Naorem Praveen Singh, Secretary, Art and Culture and Secretary, MSFTI; Angom Shijalembi Chanu, Director, MSFTI; Waikhom Dwijendro Singh, OSD (Finance), MSFTI; Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, Secretary, MSFDS; and FIPRESCI-India Executive Members Meghachandra Kongbam and Ashok Rane.

The course will be mentored by renowned film critics and scholars from FIPRESCI-India including four-time National Award winner Ashok Rane, Rwita Dutta, Dr Minakshi Dutta, Dr Pranjan Borah, National Film Award winner Meghachandra Kongbam, and Hollywood VFX artist Ranen Nongmaithem.

Local filmmakers and resource persons will also join as faculty.

A total of 35 film enthusiasts and scholars from across Manipur are participating.

The programme includes lectures, discussions, interactions and film screenings to provide a comprehensive understanding of cinema.
