State Health Society Manipur conducts STEMI training for Medical Officers

The State Health Society, Manipur in collaboration with 10BedICU, eGov Foundation successfully conducted a 1-Day Training on "ST-Elevated Myocardial infarction (STEMI)" for Medical Officers of the State at TeleICU Hub, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (INIMS), Imphal.
According to a release issued by 10BedICU, the intensive programme held under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD), National Health Mission Manipur aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of medical professionals under the Health Department, in emergency cardiac care.
The training, which took place both onsite and virtually, featured participation of medical officers-25 onsite and 22 virtually from across District Hospitals, Community Health Centers (CHCs), and Primary Health Centers (PHCs) of the State.
The programme covered crucial aspects of STEMI diagnosis, management, and treatment protocols, equipping participants with the latest advancements in cardiac emergency care.
The event was graced by the presence of several distinguished medical professionals including Dr Kh Lokeshwar Singh, Medical Superintendent, JNIMS; Dr Rajendra Singh Thangjam, Professor & HOD, Department of Medicine, JNIMS; Dr S Thoibahenba, Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology, JNIMS & TeleICU Nodal Officer Manipur; and Dr Y Premchandra Singh, Joint Director, Directorate of Health Services, Manipur & State Nodal Officer, NCD.
The training sessions were conducted by Dr A Indrajit, Assistant Professor of Medicine, JNIMS and Dr Rakesh Nongthombam, Associate Professor of Anaesthesiology, JNIMS.
The expert trainers shared their knowledge through presentations and hands-on demonstrations.
They also conducted a live tele-consultation of a STEMI case at a spoke hospital using CARE TeleICU software, providing participants with a real-world application of the skills, technology and project model being taught.
Notably, 10BedICU, eGov Foundation has opened 16 tele-ICU spokes in 16 districts across Manipur with a hub at JNIMS.
Spoke hospitals are JNIMS, DH Bishnupur, DH Churachandpur, DH Chandel, DH Senapati, DH Thoubal.
DH Ukhrul, DH Jiribam, CHC Kakching, CHC Kangpokpi, CHC Sekmai, CHC Nungba, CHC Kamjong, CHC Parbung and Sub DH Moreh.
The successful completion of the training underscored the commitment of State Health Society Manipur, JNIMS, and the 10BedICU, eGov Foundation to continually upgrade the skills of healthcare professionals, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes in cardiac emergencies.
