The Government's Ideal Blind School and Deaf & Mute School at Takyel will be upgraded to Higher Secondary level soon.
Social Welfare Director Sheikh Abdul Hakim announced today.
Speaking as chief guest at a felicitation programme for 10 Class X pass-outs from the two schools, held at the Ideal Blind School hall, the Director said students faced hardship due to the absence of Class XI and XII facilities.
To address this, both institutions will be upgraded to start Class XI and XII, with special recruitment of teachers to follow, he said.
Urging students not to drop out after Class X, Hakim noted that several reserved graduate-level posts in Government departments remain vacant due to lack of candidates.
"These reservations are for you.
Complete graduation despite challenges.
Guardians must also extend support", he said.
He further announced that construction of toilets at the schools will begin in the coming financial year and all maintenance work wjll be completed during vacation.
Certificates and cash awards were presented to the 10 students.
Social Welfare Joint Director Jiteshwar Keisham attended as special guest, while Deputy Director L Dhaneshwar presided over the programme.
Earlier, the Director-led team also inspected the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) at Takyel.
