Imphal, June 03 2025:
In view of the recurring flood problem, the Tangkhul Avenue Village Authority (TAVA) has urged Governor Aj ay Kumar Bhalla to dismantle and reconstruct the walls of Naga River and the seven bridges over the river to ensure free flow of water.
In a letter to the Governor, M Ngaranmi, chairman, TAVA, informed that the areas of Tangkhul Avenue, Fairy Land, Nagaram, Chingmeirong East, Laipham Khunou, Leirak Yengbam and Kairang Ahallup were submerged during last year's flood which occurred in May.
Residents of the aforementioned areas are facing the same problem during the ongoing flood situation in the State.
Stating that the river walls and bridges are small and outdated, TAVA has appealed to the Governor to dismantle and reconstruct the aforementioned structures.
TAVA has further urged the Governor to order the Water Resources Department and PWD Manipur to carry out the necessary action.
