Imphal, April 03 2010:
The Imphal Bench of Gauhati High Court today directed the Government Advocate to furnish report of the police investigation against Pankaj Kumar Pal, former Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, in connection with the case of abduction and subsequent brutal murder of then Kasom Khullen SDO Dr Thingnam Kishan and his two sub-ordinate staff, by armed cadres of NSCN (I-M).
The court directive followed a writ petition filed by Thingnam Surendra, father of late Kishan with the High Court on March 25 last.
Alleging conspiracy and involvement of Pankaj Kumar Pal in the abduction and subsequent murder of his son along with two other sub-ordinate staff by NSCN (I-M) cadres, Surendra had lodged a criminal complaint case in October last year praying that Ukhrul police register FIR for investigation against Pankaj Kumar Pal.
In response to the complaint, police submitted report stating that the permission of the DGP and other related authorities are being sought.
Consequently, Surendra filed a writ petition in the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench on March 25 last.
In the hearing of the writ petition today, Justice of Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench TNK Singh directed the Government advocate to furnish the progress report on the police investigation instituted by Ukhrul CJM within five days.
The Court has also directed that the case should be listed as a fixed item of motion for hearing after the stipulated five days.
It may be recalled here that Dr Kishan and his two staff namely, driver Aribam Rajen and Revenue Mandal Yumnam Token have been abducted by armed cadres of NSCN (I-M) from Ukhrul on February 13 last year but were found brutally murdered at Taphou Kuki village in Senapati on February 17 .
CBI which is also investigating into the case had also already submitted a chargesheet in the court.
Hopeson Ningshen, the mastermind of the killing and a self styled Lt Col of the Naga rebel outfit is currently being lodged in Tihar Jail.
