Ukhrul, October 02 2025:
The Ukhrul District Headquarters Associate Women Unit (UDAWU) has strongly condemned the alleged inhuman act of an 18th Assam Rifles jawan, accused of attempting to kidnap two minor girls in Ukhrul town.
The condemnation comes in response to an incident on September 23, when army jawan Madan Singh, son of Jajmohon Singh from Almora, Uttarakhand, allegedly tried to abduct two girls by pulling them into a car near Bethel Hospital, Kamphason, around 12.15 pm in broad daylight.
In a press statement, the UDAWU decried the incident as a grave violation, stressing that no army personnel should forcibly grab or drag any individual under any pretext.
The women's body cautioned that such acts, whether seen as a prank or otherwise, cannot be dismissed lightly in a region already plagued by cases of child abuse and human trafficking.
UDAWU urged all law enforcement agencies to treat the matter with utmost seriousness, ensuring accountability and justice.
The organisation further warned that it is prepared to go to any length in pursuit of justice, security and wellbeing of the community.
