Women bodies warn of stir over poor road condition

Imphal, February 02 2026:
Women organisations of Langol area have announced a potential road blockade in the region owing to the deplorable condition of the road stretch connecting the Employment Exchange, Imphal West, to Shija Hospital, Langol.
In an emergency public meeting held today, the women organisations decided that if the concerned authorities fail to repair the road by February 5, 2026, they will initiate a complete blockade from 6 am on February 6, 2026.The decision was made in coordination with other civil organizations in the Langol area after numerous accidents and health hazards (like dust-related illnesses) were reported due to the severely damaged road.
It was also pointed out that despite repeated appeals and memoranda submitted to the Deputy Commissioner and relevant companies, no concrete actions have been taken so far.
The organisations have appealed to the public, including those with school, college, medical, or religious-related travel needs, to use alternative routes if the blockade goes into effect from February 6.The meeting was attended by representatives of The Women Development & Cultural Foundation, Langol Leimakhullen Chingnmi Tami Nupi Lup, Langol Women Development Association, Ima Warok Lairembi Apunba Nupi Lup, Punshi Lok Meira NGV-II and other organisations of Langol area.
