AKML celebrates 4th Foundation Day

Imphal, March 01 2026: The 4th Foundation Day of Apunba Khorirolgee Malemgee Lup (AKML) was celebrated today at the Manipur Dramatic Union Hall in Yaiskul.

The event included the release of the book "Ereipakshidagei", authored by Waikhom Amuchou, and the presentation of the 114th Anniversary RK Madhuryyajit Awards.

Awards were presented to Naoroibam Indramani, honoured with Manipur Historian title; Dr Yumnam Indrajit, recipient of the Meihourol Literature Award; and Pangambam Nandakumar, bestowed with the Waheigee Nachom Mingthol.

The awards included a citation, shawl, and Kokyet, among other items.

The book released at the event was reviewed by Dr Longjam Sharatchandra, Associate Professor at DM University.

Soram Lokeshwar, former Principal of Manipur College, spoke as a resource person.

Ningthemcha Sana Yaima, former chairman of the UNLF, who participated in the event, stated that it is necessary for all people to know the history of Manipur.

He emphasized that without knowing history, a society cannot live a stable life.

He urged the current and future generations to write books that benefit the people and to cultivate the habit of reading books.

The event was attended by various individuals, including the president of the AKML, Waikhom Amuchou; Sahitya Akademi award winner Birendrajit Naorem; and social worker Elangbam Sovit.
