130th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot observed

The 130th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot was observed at various places today.
LINTPK
Lamyanba Irabot Ningshing Thouram Pangba Kanglup (LINTPK) organised the observance at Comet School, Changangei Uchekon.
At the event, political activist Sapam Kangleipal said mushrooming of private schools and hospitals due to failure of Government institutions is a sign that there is no responsible Government.
He said if people become responsible citizens, a better future can be built otherwise society will further deteriorate.
He said the present conflict is affecting poor people more and it shows lack of proper leadership.
Merely offering flowers and organising a function in the name of remembering Lamyanba Irabot will not carry forward his ideology, he added.
He urged people to understand what Lamyanba Irabot did and follow his path, and urged students to become productive and society-oriented.
As part of the observance, Social Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) organised an essay competition in two categories - Class 6 to 8 and 9 to 12 - on different themes.
Around 300 students participated.

COMET School manager Aribam Himananda, Principal Thoudam Devachandra, political activist Haobijam Gitajen also attended.
IMAKHOL
Iramdam Meeyamgi Apunba Khorjei Nupi (Imalchol), Awang Potshangbam observed the 7th Lamyanba Irabot Ningshing Thouram at the seminar hall of Liberal College, Luwangsangbam.
Prof N Sanjay Singh, Principal, Liberal College was chief guest, Sagolsem Bilasini, president, Imakhol presided and Dr Rajkumar Gunachandra, founder president, Imakhol was special guest.
Dr N Nando Singh spoke as resource person on "Manipuri Khorirolda Lamyanba Irabot Ki Thoudang Amadi Mityeng".
The 6-monthly journal "Iraokhol" of the group was released.
Floral tributes were paid to Lamyanba Irabot.
A poetry recitation on Irabot was also held with Dr Ng Ekashini, retired Principal, Naorem Birahari College as moderator.
Around 50 people attended.
Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya
Manipur Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya observed the day at its campus with teachers, students and members of Manipur Sanskrit Parishad.
S Tarunkumar Shanna, Manipur Prant Karyavahak, RSS, was chief guest.
Teachers, students and Parishad members planted saplings in the campus.
