Imphal, August 30 2024:
In response to the recent devastation of crops caused by relentless rainfall, a Farmers-Scientist Interaction cum Input Distribution Programme was held today to support Self-Help Group (SHG) farm women from Khurkhul, Koutruk, and Loitang Khunou.
The event, organised by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal West, under the ATARI Zone VII, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Lamphelpat, Imphal, was a significant initiative to empower local farmers with the necessary inputs and expert guidance.
The programme was sponsored by the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI)-NEH Programme, New Delhi, as part of the 100 Days Action Plan.
According to a release issued by ICAR-KVK Imphal West, the initiative aimed to provide timely assistance and resources to fanners whose livelihoods were impacted by the adverse weather conditions.
Dr Laishram Kanta Singh, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Imphal West, led the event with his team of dedicated staff.
He emphasized the importance of resilience in agriculture, particularly in the face of unpredictable weather patterns.

The experts addressed their concerns and provided practical solutions tailored to their local conditions.
Topics such as soil health management, pest and disease control, and the selection of resilient crop varieties were thoroughly covered.
The input distribution segment of the programme was another crucial aspect of the event.
Essential agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilizers, and plant protection materials, were distributed to the SHG fanners.
These inputs are expected to help them recover from the losses incuned and support the cultivation of the next cropping cycle.
In his concluding remarks, Dr Laishram Kanta Singh reiterated KVK Imphal West's dedication to the agricultural development of the region and its farmers.
