Watershed Mahotsav observed

Ukhrul, November 28 2025:
The Watershed Cell cum Data Centre (WCDC) and DRDA Ukhrul on Thursday observed Watershed Mahotsav at DRDA Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul.
Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Asish Das planted a sapling on the occasion.
He also distributed saplings to the project implementing villages of Ukhrul.
Speaking on the occasion, Polly Makan ADM, Ukhrul highlighted the importance of "engaging the community about the importance of management and conservation of natural resources has become one of the greatest challenges" .
It is people's collective responsibility to take an active part in raising awareness on conservation of natural resources.
She said the enthusiastic participation by all the stakeholders in the event is a testament to the community's commitment to sustainable development.
The WCDC is a dedicated cell established at the district level to oversee the implementation, coordination, supervision, and monitoring of watershed development programs within the district.
It might be mentioned, the project has been implemented in 5 villages in Ukhrul namely- Lunghar, Khamsom, Sihai Huishu and K Phungrei.
Over 50 persons including DC, Ukhrul Asish Das, Polly Makan ADM, Project Director of DRDA Ukhrul and Zulfi Shah, Project Officer, DRDA and other staff attended the observation programme.
