EDUCATION MINISTER of Manipur Langpoklakpam Jayentakumar today announced that the government would allot one crore rupees to each of the blocks in the hill districts for development of infrastructure for school education.
He made the announcement while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the four-day Golden Jubilee Celebration cum Conference of Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal at Lanthungching, Langol.

The Education Minister further said that one crore rupees for each of the block in the hill districts would be sanctioned.
Science and commerce subjects would be added to the school education in the hill districts.
Moreover computer science would also be added to the higher secondary classes, he announced.
For computer science, experienced teachers were required, he said and added that if persons with minimum qualifications were found in the hill districts, he himself would join in recruiting teachers on the spot.
He appealed to the people to extend fullest co-operation to the government to make the school education in the hills perfectly developed.
Recalling the close relationship between the Tangkhuls and Meiteis, Minister Jayentakumar pointed out that the Leirum Phi , a traditional cloth, is compulsorily used at the marriage ceremony of the Meiteis.
The cloth belongs to Tangkhul community, he said.
He further said that it was very important for the people of Manipur to participate in any function together like today's function of the Golden Jubilee celebration of TKL.
Minister Jayentakumar was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the four-day celebration organised on the theme "Our culture, our identity." Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii was the functional chairman, General secretary of MPCC, Victor Keishing, MLA Denny Shaiza, President of TKL, PR Jordan, Advisor to TKL AS Arthur and other special invitees were the members of the presidium.
Minister Jayentakumar released a souvenir in connection with the celebration and also donated Rs 10,000 to the organisers.
Series of cultural programmes were also presented.
