AKRUCO partially lifts road blockade

Imphal, July 27 2024:
The All Kongba Road United Clubs Organisation (AKRUCO) has partially lifted the blockade on Imphal-Yairipok road following an assurance given by the Work Minister to begin repair work by July 31, 2024 .
Speaking to media persons, AKRUCO convenor Lenin Hirom informed that members of AKRUCO met with Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam and the Additional Chief Engineer of Public Works Department at the office residence of the Minister today to discuss the deplorable condition of Imphal-Yairipok road.
He asserted that during the meeting, the Minister assured to begin repair work of the pothole-filled dilapidated section of Imphal-Yairipok road within this month and an agreement was signed between AKRUCO and the Department.
He continued that following the assurance given by the Minister, the ongoing blockade of Imphal-Yairipok road will be partially lifted and one side of the road will be open to the public.
Further, Lenin Hirom cautioned that the people of Kongba area and AKRUCO will continue their protest if the department fails to begin the repair work within the agreed time.
