Electoral sensitisation programme held at Moirang College

The Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, in association with the Electoral Literacy Club and Department of Political Science, Moirang College, under the initiative of the Election Commission of India, conducted a one-day electoral sensitisation programme in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls at the Moirang College Conference Hall.
The programme was held under the theme "Let's Ensure Accurate Electoral Roll for a Stronger Democracy" with the objective of creating awareness among citizens, particularly young voters, about the importance of an accurate electoral roll and active participation in the democratic process.
The programme was attended by Moirang College Academic Officer Prof S Deven Singh as chief guest.
Head of Department of Political Science and Convenor of Electoral Literacy Club, Moirang College, Dr M Rita Devi as functional president, and President of Manipur Innovation Society and Stakeholder Election Commission of India SVEEP, Tongbram Tejkumar Singh, as guest of honour.
During the programme, resource persons delivered detailed insights on the Special Intensive Revision, its significance and the responsibilities of voters and citizens in strengthening democracy.
Speaking on the occasion, Tongbram Tejkumar Singh said that those who enrol through the SIR process demonstrate awareness of their rights and responsibilities and contribute towards nationbuilding by participating in the democratic system.
He informed that during the ongoing SIR exercise in Manipur, around 1.08 lakh persons above 18 years of age were found to be uncollectable.
He stated that such persons may not be able to participate in the electoral process.
He appealed to all eligible citizens to take part in the SIR enrolment process and ensure that their names are included in the electoral roll before the deadline of June 28 .
