Moirang, April 27 2026:
The ongoing agitation in Moirang over the killing of two children in the Tronglaobi bomb attack and the deaths of three protesting civilians allegedly due to firing by CRPF personnel will undergo certain changes in its enforcement, MAMPIL president K Padmabati announced on Monday.
Speaking to media persons at a press conference held at Moirang Lamkhai, Padmabati said that the agitation, jointly launched by MAMPIL, KEMKAL, ANUL, and AMAC, will be partially relaxed.
She stated that restrictions imposed on vehicular movement along roads have now been relaxed.
Additionally, earlier limitations on shopkeepers and business establishments to operate only for limited hours have been completely lifted.
She explained that the decision to ease the agitation was taken in view of its growing impact on the education sector and the local economy.
The prolonged restrictions, she noted, had begun to adversely affect, students as well as individuals dependent on daily earnings.
However, Padmabati asserted that MAMPIL, KEMKAL, ANUL, and AMAC would continue extending support to and participate in any protest or agitation launched by organisations across the state on the issue until justice is delivered.
The press conference was also attended by several members of the Meira Paibi groups.
