Thoubal, July 26 2025:
Amid the ongoing pen-down strike by the Lecturers' Association Manipur (LAM) 2018 batch, students of Khangabok Higher Secondary School staged a human chain protest inside the school campus, urging for restoration of normal academic activities and resolve the impasse between the teachers and the authorities.
The lecturers are demanding completion of their regularization process and disbursal of regular pay salaries, which were earlier announced by the Government in 2023.During the protest, students held placards reading "Let us learn without hindrance", "Don't spoil the school's academic atmosphere" "Resolve the matter immediately" were used.
A class XII student participating in the protest shared that nearly eight teachers, including those handling key subjects such as English, Manipuri, Home Science, Biology and Political Science, were participating in the strike, severely impacting academic progress over the past week.
He further added that the prolonged effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by episodes of ethnic violence, had already taken a toll on students' education.
The current strike, he said, has only worsened their situation, with fears rising over the possibility of academic year loss.
The students appealed to the Government to urgently intervene, address the grievances of the agitating teachers, and ensure that regular classes resume without further delay.
