Imphal, February 26 2026:
As part of its ongoing community service initiatives, the Prem Dhara Charitable Trust today distributed simple shawls to 22 elderly women from Thongju Assembly Constituency at a ceremony held at Atom Leirak, Khongman Zone IV.
The event was graced by notable personalities, including Laishram Jatra Singh, state executive member of RSS Manipur Prant, and Adhikarimayum Manju Sharma, wife of the RIMS Director.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Wahengbam Rorrkychand, a trustee of Prem Dhara Charitable Trust, said the trust was set up in memory of Khundrakpam Ongbi Nungshi Devi to serve the community.
Established in January 2024, it has already undertaken several public welfare initiatives, using funds from the deceased and contributions from family and trustees, he added.
Laishram Jatra highlighted the rapid changes in family traditions in modem times, warning that this trend could lead to future difficulties.
He stressed the need to preserve cultural values to avoid major problems for future generations, also noting the gradual disappearance of traditional names given by elders.
Manju Sharma expressed the trust's desire to extend assistance in health and religious matters in the coming months.
She expressed hope that the trust would soon organise medical camps and religious pilgrimages for the elderly.
The beneficiaries expressed their joy and offered blessings for the continued success of the trust's public service initiatives, bringing the function to a close.
