Skill development training programme concludes

Thoubal, September 25 2026: The valedictory function of the 10-day skill development training programme on 'Development of Handicraft Product/Items from Pineapple Leaf Fibre' was held at Krishi VigyanKendra (KVK), Thoubal.

The skill development training programme was organised by KVK Thoubal under the sponsorship of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology ICAR NINFET, Kolkata.

Twenty selected trainees from Kakching and Thoubal districts avail the benefit of the skill development and training programme.

In a remarkable act of development, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between KVK Thoubal and ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata to take up joint collaborative developmental works in future.

Today's valedictory function was graced by ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata Principal Scientist Dr L Ammayappam; ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata CBP Division Scientist ER Naveenjose and KVK Thoubal Senior Scientist and Head in-charge Dr Kh Premlata Devi as the presidium members.

Certificates of participation were also distributed to the trainees of the programme.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr L Ammayappam spoke about the establishment of ICAR-NINFET since the British era and the various activities taken up focusing on women empowerment.

He also stressed on the importance of production of aesthetic items by the farmers to achieve sustainable development goals.
