IBSD organises curtain raiser for IISF- 2024
Entrepreneurship development workshop begins

The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) organised a curtain raiser programme for the upcoming India International Science Festival 2024 (IISF-2024) at Imphal today.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director, IBSD highlighted various research activities of IBSD for the promotion of bioresources and development of bioeconomy of the region.
He said that the theme of IISF-2024 is "Transforming India into a Science and Technology Driven Global Manufacturing Hub" for Viksit Bharat 2047.He mentioned that IBSD is working on different bioresources and traditional practices of NER for the development of phytopharmaceuticals and promotion of entrepreneurship and startups in NER.
"IBSD is promoting the BioE3 policy of DBT, Government of India for the development of the economy, environment and employment", he added.
Dr Shekhar C.Mande, former DG, CSIR elaborated on the theme and significance of IISF for the scientific community and young brains of the country.
Swami Devapriyananda, Principal, Ramakrishna Mission School, Uripok, Imphal, highlighted the initiatives taken by IBSD to popularize science among school students.
He encouraged the students to visit IBSD labs and interact with scientists to explore bioresources of NER.
As part of the event, Thongam Biswajit Singh, Science and Technology Minister, Government of Manipur, inaugurated a workshop on "Entrepreneurship development from mushroom cultivation".
The Minister appreciated the initiatives taken by IBSD for the development of entrepreneurs and startups in NER.
He asserted that IBSD under the leadership of Prof Pulok K Mukherjee has been working on different research areas such as Phytopharmaceutical Mission, Ethnopharmacology & Drug Development; Microbial resources, traditional foods; Animal resources and Medicinal Plant resources for their scientific validation & value addition to propel innovations for the development of bioresources in the region.
About 30 progressive farmers from Imphal participated in the workshop.
During the event, prizes were distributed to the winners of the drawing competition on BioE3 policy organised by IBSD.
