Manipur University marks NSS Foundation Day with mega blood donation camp

Imphal, September 24 2026: Manipur University observed the 56th MY Bharat NSS Foundation Day 2026 with a mega blood donation camp at its auditorium today under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026.The camp was jointly organised by the MY Bharat NSS Cell, Manipur University; State NSS Cell.

Manipur; MY Bharat, Imphal West District; State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), Manipur and Health Centre, Manipur University under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

It was also held in connection with National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2026 under the message "One Drop of Humanity.

Give Blood.

Save Lives".

Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam Singh attended as chief guest while Vice-Chancellor Prof RK Hemakumar Singh presided.

Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports Naorem Praveen Singh attended as special guest and Director, SBTC Dr L Dayalaxmi as guest of honour.

In his address, Karam Shyam urged students to regard blood donation as a personal responsibility towards saving lives, not merely as an NSS activity.

He called for nurturing the spirit of service from an early age and developing civic sense.

Prof RK Hemakumar said everyone has a responsibility to contribute towards Viksit Bharat 2047 and young people and NSS volunteers have an important role to play.

Dr L Dayalaxmi appealed to NSS volunteers to remain involved in voluntary blood donation beyond a single camp and to become regular donors.

She explained the difference between voluntary and replacement donation and highlighted donor screening procedures.

Earlier, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, Manipur University Prof Laishram Santosh Singh delivered the welcome address.

Seven Programme Officers were selected for the MY Bharat NSS Best Programme Officer Award 2026.They are Dr Mangsatabam Sumati Devi of Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College, Okram Radheshyam Singh of Jiri College, John Britto A of Don Bosco College (Autonomous).

Kshetrimayum Biren Singh of Kakching Khunou College, Dr Ngamthem Serbum Moyon of South East Manipur College.

Dr Laishram Landhoni Devi of Birmangol College and Dr Huidrom Suraj Singh of Manipur University.

Students who voluntarily donated blood and Prof S Sunil of Department of Biochemistry, Manipur University were also felicitated.

Director, MY Bharat, Manipur, Paulina Monsang proposed the vote of thanks.
