Workshop held for Forest guards

The Central Forest Division, ForestDepartment, Govt of Manipur, in collaboration with the Department of Zoology, Manipur University, successfully organized a one-day workshop on snake identification, rescue, and snakebite awareness for forest guards.
The workshop today at Mantripukhri Forest Office campus aimed to equip forest guards with critical skills and knowledge necessary for handling snake-related incidents safely and effectively.
N Ganesh, DFO Central, Vikram Nadhe, DCF P&S, Abhijit DFO Chandel, Prof Naorem Mohilal Meitei and Dr Sivakumar V of Dept of Zoology, Manipur University attended the workshop.
The workshop highlighted different snake species found in Manipur, safe methods of rescuing snakes, and first-aid techniques for snakebite victims.
Experts from the Department of Zoology led interactive sessions, offering hands-on demonstrations and theoretical insights to the participants.
The forest guards were trained to distinguish between venomous and non-venomous snakes found in the region, rescue techniques and medical interventions to follow in case of snakebites.
