Talks with CM on Sadar Hills fails

Imphal, August 24 2011:
Talks between the representatives of the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) and Chief Minister O Ibobi at Chief Minister's Secretariat held today has failed.
The talk which began at 2 pm and lasted about one and half hour ended enclusive as the demand committee sticked in its demand.
The Government representatives led by the CM includes Revenue Minister Th Devendra and Public Health Engineering Minister TN Haokip.
During the meeting the State Government appealed to the agitators to called off the ongoing agitation on the two national highways however the agitators sticked in its stand and refused to the request of the government.
The CM told the delegate of agitators about the formation of high power committee to look into the boundaries of the nine districts and police jurisdiction.
The high power committee will submit its report to the State Government within three months.
After going through to the report of the high power committee new districts will be formed the CM assured the SHDDC delegations.

It may be mentioned that people of the state have been facing many hardships due to the prolonged blockades and agitations on the national highways.
The SHDDC delegation told the Government that they will discuss the Government proposals with other representatives of the agitators before taking the final decision.
After the meeting one of the representative of SHDDC told reporters that the committee will continue its agitations on the national highways until and unless their demands are not met.
Meanwhile a press release issued by the President of SHDDC stated that they had sumitted an ultimatum to the Chief Minister to upgrade Sadar Hills as full fledged district but CM is playing delaying tactics.The Chief Minister and his team are trying to create problems in the State the released alleged.
The State Government should held the responsibility to any untoward incidents in due course of the agitations it added.
Meanwhile more than 800 vehicles including 120 petrolium tankers will be heading for Imphal tomorrow from Jiribam.
