Imphal, April 23 2026: Supporters of the shutdown called by United Naga Council (UNC) set fire to a motorcycle (Royal Enfield Bullet) at Kanglatongbi Bridge, under Sekmai police station this afternoon.

According to sources, while the shutdown supporters were blocking traffic in the Kanglatongbi area, two youths were seen riding a motorcycle coming from the direction of Kangpokpi, The youths were detained by the bandh supporters upon reaching the blockade.

When questioned by the supporters about their reason for being in the area during the shutdown, the youths, suspected to be from the Kuki community, failed to provide any explanation or any identification documents.

Angered by their responses, the shutdown supporters set their motorcycle on fire in the middle of Kanglatongbi Bridge.

The two youths were later rescued by the security personnel deployed in the area and handed over to Gamnom Sapermeina police station.
