The special ward at the JN Hospital, Porompat which is not only the biggest government run healthcare centre of the state but also planning to upgrade as medical institute is remaining unused for the last six year making a loss of Rs 1 lakh per year income to the government.
Apart from this, the CT scan machine is also still remained defunct for the last around four years since 2005-06 .
The latest machine of the same kinds arrived around two weeks back also yet to install.
As per a high level source, the special ward of the hospital remaining unused since 2003 after the failure of the safety tank which was inaugurated in the year 1989 .
The tank has not been repairing since its inauguration.
Last year, authority planned to repair it, but in was in vain.
Even though, state PWD department has completed repairing of the special ward for the first time recently and hand over to the hospital authority, still there is no planned to open the ward at the earliest.
The special ward has 30 beds.
When the ward was opened, the hospital earned an income of Rs 3300 per day.
But no income could earn since 2003 after the closer of the same.
Since then no income received.
The hospital's CT scan machine has also been remaining defunct around the year 2005-06.So repairing is done so far causing inconvenient to the needy patients.
Another latest CT scan which was procured around two months back is yet installed.
The installation has been delayed as the room where the machine is to be installed remained unfinished.
The machine was procured from the Padmaja System and Service Private Limited, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Failure on the part of the Manipur government to pay Rs 50,000, the company refused to the sent the mechanics for making and installation of the machine, the source disclosed.
The machine cost Rs 2.20 lakh and hospital authority is targeting to get an income of Rs 5000 to 10,000 per day once it was installed.
Another handicap in the functioning of the government run biggest hospital is the short of manpower.
Owing the shortest of manpower, many incontinences are causing to the patients coming up for treatment in the hospital.
