Sit-ins demand justice for Jiribam victims

Widespread demonstrations were carried out in different areas of the Imphal valley against the gruesome killing of the six women and children by Kuki-Zo-Hmar militants in Jiribam.
Today, students of the College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, held a sit-in protest in the college campus.
Around 450 students participated in the demonstration, condemning the brutal killing of three children and three women at Jiribam.
At the sit-in, the students expressed their deep shock and outrage at this senseless act of violence.
They called for an immediate end to the bloodshed and urged the Government to take all necessary steps to bring lasting peace to Manipur.
The student body demanded a swift and thorough investigation into the Jiribam killings to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
They also emphasized the importance of creating a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Manipur.
Similarly, Manipur Ima Kanglei Sintha Semkat Lup also staged a sit-in protest near Singjamei Keithel Bridge demanding justice for the six women arid children who were killed by "Kuki-Zo Terrorists" in cold blood and revocation of Armed Forces' Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958, which was re-imposed in the jurisdiction of six police stations in the State, including violence-hit Jiribam.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the sit-in, Manipur Ima Kanglei Sintha Semkat Lup chief convenor Sagolshem Kulla said that the killing of six women and children including an 8-month-old infant in Jiribam was cowardly and every right thinking individual should condemn, such acts of brutality and terrorism.
He also questioned the purpose behind the deployment of thousands of Central Security Forces in the State if they are unable to protect innocent women and children from the atrocities of Kuki Zo Terrorists.
Furthermore, Sagolshem Kulla appealed to the Government to take immediate steps to implement NRC and deport illegal immigrants from Manipur.
Placards with the slogans such as, "Save Manipur", "Unity is Strength", "Revoke AFSA", "End Proxy War", etc were used at the sit-in .
