Workshop on 'PM Vishwakarma' held

State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), Manipur organised a 1-day workshop on "PM Vishwakarma" at the auditorium of State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) in Porompat today.
The workshop began with a welcome address delivered by N Kangba, co-ordinator, SLBC Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Lead District Manager (Imphal East, Bishnupur, Noney and Tengnoupal), Yengkhom Ibochou Singh said that the workshop was conducted with the aim to spread awareness of Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma (PM Vishwakarma) .
He asserted that PM Vishwakarma is a Central Sector Scheme launched on September 17, 2023 by the Prime Minister to provide holistic and end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople through access to collateral free credit, skill training, modem tools, incentive for digital transactions and market linkage support.
He continued that the scheme covers artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 trades namely carpenter, boat maker, armourer, blacksmith, hammer and tool kit maker, locksmith, goldsmith, potter, sculptor, stone breaker, cobbler/shoesmith/footwear artisan, mason, basket/mat/broom maker/coir weaver, doll & toy maker (traditional), barber, garland maker, washerman, tailor and fishing net maker.
Ibouchou also elaborated on digital payment, financial literacy, roles of bank, process of applying loan from bank, eligibility criteria, mode of transaction and repayment of the loan amount.
Imphal East Zilla Parishad, Chairperson, Dr P December Singh delivered a lecture on the topic "PM Vishwakarma" while DPMU, PM Vishwakarma, Kashing Shingnaisui spoke on "Registration process, roles and responsibilities of DPMU at District Level" .
New & old applicants, representatives of Private and Public Sector Banks from across the State also participated in the workshop.
