Yoga Day celebrated across Imphal with Court, riverfront, cultural events

The International Day of Yoga was marked in Imphal on Sunday with two major programmes highlighting health and environmental awareness.
At the High Court of Manipur, a yoga session was held at the Lobby of the Chief Justice's Court.
Chief Justice M Sundar; Justices A Bimol Singh and A Guneshwar Sharma; Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu (retired), Director, Manipur Judicial Academy; Advocate General Lenin Singh Hijam; Bar Council Chairman S Brajabihari Singh; High Court Bar Association of Manipur president, N Kumarjit Singh; Deputy Solicitor General Kh Samarjit Singh; and Registrar General Ojesh Mutum attended.
Judges, judicial officers, advocates, and registry staff performed postures and breathing exercises under expert guidance, stressing yoga's role in physical and mental wellbeing.
Separately, "Ghat Par Yoga & Meditation" was organised on Sunday morning at four Nambul riverfronts to promote river conservation.
Sponsored by the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the events were held at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai, Pishum Oinam Leikai, Naoremthong Khulem Leikai, and Iroisemba Irong Laipham.
Local bodies and residents in white attire participated, spreading the message "Clean mind, Clean water".
Director Dr T Brajakumar and officials joined the session at Iroisemba.
At Singjamei Chingamakha Oinam Leirak, Salairen Cultural Research Institution observed World Music Day and the 12th International Yoga Day at Leishemlon Marup Community Hall.
Thokchom Eliza, Caretaker Corporator, Singjamei AC, Ward No 16, attended as chief guest.
Artists presented cultural items including Pena Lepsak Kwakta Lamjel, Moirang Kangleilon Loikum Loika.
folk songs, and a yoga demonstration, concluding the event successfully.
