RIMS celebrates World Prosthodontist Day

The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Dental College, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, celebrated World Prosthodontist Day 2025 today at the Examination Hall of Dental College, RIMS, Imphal under the theme, "God Create..We Recreate".
According to a release issued by RIMS, the celebrations spanned an entire month, from December 22, 2024, to January 22, 2025, and featured diverse programmes designed to raise awareness about the specialty and promote oral health and prosthodontic care.
The celebrations commenced with an inaugural session graced by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal; Prof B Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal and Prof Anand Rajapur, Head of Prosthodontics Department, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal as presidium members.
Key activities included outreach programmes such as dental screening camps and patient education drives conducted at Old Age Homes in Mongsangei and Langol, as well as a relief camp in Imphal East, where free treatments and dentures were provided to patients in need.
Public awareness initiatives featured a street play and educational videos on oral hygiene, preserving natural dentition, timely tooth replacement, and denture care.
To engage students, the department organised poster and model competitions highlighting advancements in prosthodontics and a reel-making competition on the theme, "Good Mouth, Good Health" for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of various competitions held during the celebrations.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from doctors, staff, and students of the Dental College, underscoring the department's dedication to advancing prosthodontic care and education in the region.
