Imphal, December 21 2024:
The Kom Tribe Organisation Valley (KTOV) has lauded the unanimous resolution taken by the Manipur Legislative Assembly's Hill Area Committee (HAC) on October 14, 2024 to set up an administrative committee to run the administration of the Autonomous District Councils as a stop-gap management till the actual polls of the ADC is conducted.
In a release, KTOV appreciated the HAC for considering the genuine grievances and suffering of the people of hill districts and coming up with an alternative idea of forming an Adhoc body during this critical juncture.
"As we all know that hoping for ADC polls at this volatile situation in the State would only mean a lazy fellow waiting for an apple to fall into his mouth", it added.
The KTOV appealed to the authority concerned to act swiftly to materialize the resolution adopted by the HAC to set up an Administrative Committee in the hills districts as temporary replacement for the local body.
The KTOV also urged the State Government to take necessary steps to conduct the much awaited ADC polls as early as possible.
"Further, as Kom is a minority tribe in the State, they can't have any public representative even in local self Government.
The State authority may extend an opportunity to include 2 members in the formation of the Administrative Committee of the hills districts", concluded KTOV .
