URF cadres arrested for extortion: Police

The three cadres of United Revolutionary Front (URF), who have been reportedly abducted by unidentified persons from Kangla Park, were actually arrested by a team of Lamphel Police Station in connection with an extortion case filed by All Manipur Petroleum Tankers' Union, according to a statement issued by SP Imphal West.
The SP informed that three cadres of URF namely Puyam Ruhini alias Biren Meitei alias Moiyamba (51) of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, Huidrom Shantikumar alias Pamei Meitei (37), s/o Konungjao of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai and Yumnam Shantikumar alias Raja Meitei (36), s/o Shyamjai of Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai along with Konthoujam Premjit alias Nimai alias Konthouba Singh (32) of Thiyam Khunjao Maning Leikai were arrested by the police as per Case FIR No.133(6)2013 under section 307/364/384/506/511/34 of IPC and 16/17/20 UA(P) Act of Lamphel PS.
The case was taken up following a complaint lodged by the President of All Manipur Petroleum Tankers' Union to the DGP.
One mobile phone (number 8514066926) used in the extortion along with a Chevrolet Tavera vehicle bearing registration MN-04A 5001 (black colour) in the name of Kh Lukhoi of Nagamapal were also recovered from their possession, the release added.
