Imphal, July 20 2024:
BJP Khundrakpam Mandal president M Debaratan has called for collective effort to end the prolonged conflict and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club on Friday, M Debaratan said that the conflict broke out on May 3, 2023 due to the initiatives taken by the Government to protect the future generation.
He asserted that the initiatives of the Government such as the War on Drugs campaign, drive against illegal encroachment in Reserve Forest Areas and poppy cultivation were major factors for the conflict.
Highlighting that more than 200 people have been killed and over 60,000 people are currently taking shelter in relief camps, he appealed to all the political parties to set aside differences and work together to bring peace in Manipur.
He continued that it is not the time for infighting and all the political parties, CSOs and Meira Paibis should stand together to protect the integrity of the State.
Further, M Debaratan said that there will be peace in Manipur only when NRC is implemented, border fencing is completed and SoO agreement with Kuki militants is abrogated.
