Merit takes centre stage as schools and associations honour Class X, XII toppers

Imphal, June 20 2026:
Heritage Convent School today held a felicitation programme at its Campus 3 in Haorang, Imphal West, for students who secured top positions and high CGPAs in the 2026 Class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM .
Class X topper Khuraijam Aashreeta received Rs 1 lakh and a certificate, while Oinam Naotam, Wahengbam Honey, and Wangkheimayum Nijita were awarded Rs 50,000 each with certificates.
Class XII rank-holder Fidambi Tourangbam, who secured 19th position, received Rs 2 lakh, a certificate, and the Austin Loukham Memorial Award comprising Rs 10,000, a Lengyan, and a certificate.
Four students who won national and international medals were also honoured.
Executive director Sanjenbam Vikramjit urged students to set goals and avoid morning tuition, stressing that attending school tired affects learning.
He advised post-school tuition and regular textbook reading.
Separately, the Uripok Walking Party Welfare Association observed its Foundation Day with a Meritorious Award Distribution Function at Uripok Yambem Mohori Memorial Youth Club Hall.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including Association president Dr K Gopal Singh, advisor G Budhachandra Sharma, and vice presidents Ph Bijen Singh and Dr N Dwijamani.
Meritorious students from the Nagamapal to Iroishemba stretch who scored top marks in the Class X and Class XII (Science, Arts, and Commerce streams) examinations were felicitated with certificates, citations, and cash awards.
The gathering also observed a two-minute silence and offered floral tributes in memory of the association's deceased members.
Established in 1996, the association continues to engage in social service, including flood relief efforts and COVID-19 assistance.
