Imphal, May 19 2026:
Hundreds of students of Hundred Flowers Higher Secondary School, Thangjam Khunou, staged an emotional yet peaceful protest on Tuesday, appealing to the State Government to defer the proposed eviction and demolition of their school campus.
Holding placards that read "Save Our School", "Education is Our Right", "Don't Destroy Our Future", and "We Need Time, Not Eviction", the students gathered inside the school premises expressing fear that the institution which has served underprivileged children for over three decades may be forced to shut down.

Many students said the school is "not merely a building but a second home" for children from economically weaker families.
They voiced concern that their parents would not be able to afford private institutions if the school is demolished without alternative arrangements.
Notably, parts of the school were already demolished in 2011 and again in 2025 for road widening projects.
The protesting students urged the Government to reconsider the eviction drive so that their education is not disrupted midway.
"Sudden eviction will leave us without classrooms, laboratories and basic facilities", they said.
Teachers and parents who joined the protest noted that the school has been providing affordable education and scholarships to orphaned and poor students for more than 30 years.
They appealed to the authorities to consider the humanitarian and educational impact before taking any final decision.
Established on November 14, 1989 by the then IGP of Manipur, Late Abdur Rahman Shah, with the vision of "Education for All", Hundred Flowers Higher Secondary School has produced thousands of students now serving society in various fields.
"We are not protesting against die Government We are only requesting time so that our education can continue", one student said during the protest.
The demonstration remained peaceful, with students, parents, teachers and well-wishers collectively urging the Government to adopt a compassionate approach in the larger interest of education and the students' future.
