Imphal, May 19 2010: Reacting to the statement of NSCN (IM) chairman Issac Chishi Swu which was published in some section of the media, All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) has categorically stated that the irresponsible remark with anti-Meetei tone has been taken serious note of.

In a statement, publicity secretary of AMUCO NC Modhuchandra, observed that at present there may be no one who is more guilty that Isak in reducing an armed movement to a mere communal war and instigating disintegration of Manipur and other Northeastern States after entering talks with the Government of India.

To think of building a Nation by erecting artificial barriers among the people of the same ancestral stock is imbued with insincerity and would never be acceptable to the people of the world and such individual would never find a place for themselves in the historical annals of human civilisation, the statement said.

The statement said that creating ethnic border and snapping the age-old fraternity ties is a tactic of the colonial ruler.

As such, and as part of this strategy, the Government of India recently tried to send NSCN (IM) general secretary to visit Manipur to see its result.

But the attempt have been defeated by the people.

In the test to see how many people support the visit of NSCN (IM) general secretary to his native birthplace and how many people think that the visit would lead to communal tension, insidious role of the Government of India to set one group of people against another and appease one group at the cost of another in the Northeast region has been amply demonstrated once again.

The AMUCO statement further observed that apart from the irresponsible remarks filled with antiMeitei tone, encouraging ethnic border was nothing sort of poisoning the various ethnic groups which are not part of the 'Naganisation' process.

So, it would be questionable whether NSCN (IM) and its cadres are following the diktats of the Government of India knowingly or unknowingly.

More than anybody else, it is Nagas who see the truth that are not happiness with the activities of the NSCN (IM) and its cadres like harassment of innocent people, looting them or beating them up and imposition illegal taxes along the Highways in the last 20 years, it added.

To the allegation that Meeteis were only acting when they intervened to stop the Naga-Kuki clashes during 1990 and extended help to victims, AMUCO said such glib tongue would be unforgivable by Christ and regrettable by the Church.

AMUCO went on to say that while Nagaland was still a part of Assam, there was no other independent Nation in the Northeast with exception to Manipur, Assam and Tripura.

The claim of founding South Nagaland is only on the land of Manipur whose boundary during 1500 to 1838 used to extend upto Cachar of Assam in the west, Sibsagar and Thibomei in the north, Somra tract in the north-east, eastern side of Chindwin river on the east and upto Kabow Valley in the south-west.

To dream of a Nation by breaking apart the territorial integrity of Manipur is impossible and efforts being made to untie the knot that binds together the people would never be successful.

Decrying the undue interference of Nagaland Chief Minister Rio in the internal affairs of Manipur as cheap politics, AMUCO cautioned Rio to think over his act of openly supporting Muivah's demand for Nagalim.

The announcement made by one Nagaland-based student body to prevent entry of vehicles bearing registration number was also surprising, it said.

Stating that creating communal tension among the people is the biggest mistake of Muivah, AMUCO observed that it is mistake that no true revolutionary leader would ever commit.

Muivah should remembered that when Dr Che Guevara after liberating Cuba went to sacrifice his life in the freedom struggle of Bolivia he did not accumulate any property or wealth for himself.

AMUCO said.

AMUCO also called upon the State Government for taking up proactive measures towards ensuring clearance of both the National Highways to ensure free transportation of essential goods at any cost.
