Workshop on "Yelhou Hidak" concludes'

A two-day Training Cum Workshop on "Traditional Manipuri Age-Old Home Remedies (Yelhou Hidak)" concluded yesterday at TS Paul Manipur Women's College, Mongsangei.
The workshop was organised by the Apunba Manipur Maiba Maibi Phurup (AMMMP), Manipur, with support from Henry Martyn Institute International Centre for Research, Interfaith Relations and Reconciliation (HMI).
The valedictory function was graced by dignitaries, including Dr Deshworjit Singh Ningombam, ethnotaxonomist; Ksh Devendra Singh, Principal of the college; Ningthoukhongjam Tombi Raj, president, AMMMP; Konthoujam Manoranjan Singh, member, GB, TSPMWC; and Dr Khumukcham Nongalleima.

Experts shared knowledge on medicinal plants used since ancestral times.
Resource person Maibam Hemabati from Kwakeithel highlighted a locally found unidentified plant that has shown results in treating chronic skin diseases, nervous and gastrointestinal disorders.
She said the plant is still under scientific classification.
Other resource persons from Chandel, Wangkhei, Kongpal and Phayeng demonstrated preparations for diabetes, stones, skin ailments, gastric, BP and women's health issues using locally available herbs.
