Imphal, February 15 2026: The Philanthropic Dhanamanjurians of DM College of Science 1976 (PHIDAM-1976) celebrated its 6th Foundation Day today at the residence of Dr RK Rashbihari in Nongmeibung Rurana Rajbari, Imphal.

The event was graced by dignitaries, including Dr S Nongthon, former Professor and Head, Orthopaedic Department, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal; Dr RK Lenin, president, PHIDAM-1976; Dr B Bidyabati Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Dance & Music, Manipur University; M Shomananda, secretary, PHIDAM-1976; and Ksh Joychandra, treasurer, PHIDAM-76 .

PHIDAM-1976 celebrates 6th Foundation Day

Speaking on the occasion, Dr RK Lenin mentioned that the platform was established six years ago with the significant contribution of Dr Dhakeshwore.

He reflected on the nostalgia of sharing a classroom or bench in 1976, noting how faces have changed over the fifty years, to the point of forgetting some.

Dr Lenin highlighted that while they never imagined their future roles back then, reuniting now after pursuing different fields brings satisfaction.

The core objective of PHIDAM is to gather members with the shared spirit of being a 1976 student, rising above individual leadership roles in various fields.

He stated that out of approximately 300 total members, around 100 are currently active, with about 80 fully engaged.

He asserted that the main goals of PHIDAM 1976 are to support struggling members during their active years, share in joys and sorrows, and ensure the wellbeing and happiness of all members and their families.

Offering of flowers to the photographs of deceased PHIDAM 1976 members was the main highlight of the event.
