Alleging that district officials in the district has refused to accept money for APL rice for the district quota on the ground that rice under TPDS no longer exist, Churachandpur's apex student body - the CDSU and the ZEPADA today lodge a formal complain to the Chief Minister and calls for his intervention.
In a separate representation to the Chief Minister, the two civil bodies have alleged that rice for festival was allocated to the state by the Government of India with similar quantity of APL rice under TPDS.
However, the CAF & PD department has abolished the existing PDS and discontinued issuing the district quota of APL ever since fixing the selling price of the festival rice at Rs.1,172 per quintal, despite the allocation under TPDS, it alleged.
Besides it was allege, contrary to the government order festival rice was issued at Rs.1200 per quintal with the extra cost of process charge at Rs.30 per quintal, transportation charge at Rs.38 per quintal, and loading and unloading charge till it reaches the FPS agent at Rs.1268 per quintal with the agents bearing all the extra costs.
The civil bodies have approached the Chief Minister today for his intervention as well as to initiate action against the culprits whom it claimed had infused hardship to the general public.
