DC Kamjong reviews vibrant villages programme, chairs NCORD meeting

Kamjong, July 13 2026:
Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong, LN Kashung, on Monday chaired a meeting of district officials to review the implementation of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP)-II at the DC's Camp Office in the 2nd Manipur Rifles Complex.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner HL Jain, Sub-Divisional Officers and District Level Officers, among others.
Highlighting the importance of the programme, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to improve the livelihoods of villagers through its effective implementation and urged officials to regularly visit villages and engage with local residents.
Reviewing the programme guidelines, he directed line departments to prepare project proposals in consultation with villagers and the concerned SDOs.
He also emphasised that operation and maintenance should form an integral part of every proposed project.
The Vibrant Villages Programme-II aims at the comprehensive development of strategic villages along India's international land borders by providing critical infrastructure, improving connectivity and creating livelihood opportunities.
In Kamjong district, the programme covers Kamjong, Kasom Khullen and Sahamphung blocks.
Later in the day, Kashung also chaired the District Level NCORD Committee meeting, attended by Superintendent of Police Tholu Rocky, Divisional Forest Officer Nepolean Rongmei, officials of various departments and security agencies.
The meeting reviewed enforcement measures taken to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner called for greater coordination among law enforcement and security agencies to effectively tackle the drug menace.
