World Day Against Child Labour observed in Chandel

Chandel, June 13 2026:
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel, in association with the Khuhringkhuw Village Legal Aid Clinic, observed World Day Against Child Labour on Friday at Sinadam village Community Hall under the theme, "Awareness on Elimination of Child Labour and Protection of Children's Rights" .
The programme was organised under the joint aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA).
District Child Protection Officer, Chandel, Babuna Dangmei, and advocate Seltun Wellster attended the event as resource persons.
Addressing the gathering, Babuna Dangmei sensitised participants on various child protection laws and the rights of children guaranteed under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.
Advocate Seltun Wellster elaborated on various national helpline numbers available for reporting child-related offences and seeking assistance.
He also stressed the need for timely reporting of violations under the Child Labour Act to ensure effective enforcement of the law.
The awareness programme witnessed the participation of students, members of local civil society organisations and elderly residents of the village.
The observance concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ts Khiningkham Anal, Coordinator of the Khuhringkhuw Village Legal Aid Clinic.
