Imphal, February 13 2026: The Manipur International Youth Centre (MIYC) today organised a special lecture and interaction programme to mark its 30th Foundation Day.

The event, held at the Loktak hall of the Manipur Press Club, focused on the pertinent topic of "Human Rights: Issues & Challenges in Manipur" .

The celebration was graced by dignitaries, including Khangembam Anandi, advisor, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL); Thokchom Sujata, president, Imagee Meira; Islahuddin Wangmayum, vice-president, United Meitei Pangal Committee (UMPC); Elangbam Ibempishak, chairperson, People Progressive Alliance Manipur; and Mk Saroj Khan, president, MIYC .

MIYC marks 30th Foundation Day with human rights lecture

Speaking on the occasion, Mk Saroj Khan said that the organisation was established on February 13, 1997, after careful deliberation by elders.

He asserted that the primary objective was to create an organisation that could help mitigate various contemporary issues in Manipur.

He shared that the centre has consistently taken steps to address different issues within the region, particularly focusing on human rights, and the rights of women and children.

MK Saroj further reaffirmed MIYC's commitment to Manipur's progress and people's welfare.

At the event, Dr Y Premananda, Head, Department of Law and Director, Centre for Human Rights, Manipur University, spoke on "Human Rights: Issues & Challenges in Manipur" while Rinku Khumukcham, editor of Imphal Times, addressed the relationship between "Journalism & Human Rights" .
