Bishnupur, August 12 2024:
District Hospital Management Society Bishnupur has clarified that the hospital currently treats anywhere from 350 to 400 patients and performs 3/5 surgeries per day.
M Bilky, executive member, District Hospital Management Society Bishnupur made the statement while addressing media persons at Bishnupur Hospital today in response to a local MLA's statement on August 6 that the Bishnupur Hospital treats only 5 patients in a day and has been turned into a referral hospital.
Condemning the MLA's assertion, M Bilky said that the legislator should have requested correct data from the hospital superintendent.
With the establishment of the new District Hospital Management Committee in September of 2022, many new doctors were appointed in the department of ortho, surgery, ENT, gynae etc taking the total number of doctors to 48.Additionally many surgical instruments were purchased to the point where surgeries are performed on 3 to 5 patients a day with a total of 110 patients approximately being operated on per month, he claimed.
Around 350-400 patients receive medical consultations in the OPD per day and roughly 12,000 patients are treated and more than 140 patients receive dialysis treatment at the Bishnupur Hospital in a month, M Bilky continued.
The hospital has a Blood Transfusion Unit, and five beds in the ICU Unit.
Under the Jan Aushadhi scheme, the hospital has a 24 hour pharmacy providing essential medications and related items to the patients, he added.
Sharing further information about developmental works in the pipeline, M Bilky said that efforts are underway to upgrade the institution into a 200-bedded hospital and construct a new two-storeyed building to accommodate OPD, ultrasound and X-ray facilities.
Thus the hospital provides health services not only to the people from Napat, Tangjeng, Torbung, Bangla, Thanga, Nongmaikhong and Khordak but to residents of adjoining districts like Churachandpur and Kangpokpi as well.
M Bilky has urged individuals to refrain from putting forth such misinformation before the public in the future and to contact the medical superintendent to get any hospital related data.
The press conference was also attended by Dr L Raichandra Singh, CMO Bishnupur District; Dr Kh Satyabala, Medical Superintendent and M Bimola, Executive Member, District Hospital Management Society.
