State BJP President terms Congress as master of scams

Imphal, May 12 2013: Terming Congress Party as the "master of scams", President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thounaojam Chaoba has criticized the Congress Government both at the Centre and State for alleged indulgence in corruption and other anti-people activities.

Addressing media persons on Sunday at the office of BJP Manipur Pradesh here, Chaoba said that the people have given their mandate to the Congress Party in the last State assembly election, but the Congress Government has failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people.

"Much to the contrary of people's expectation, the Congress legislators are active only in drug trafficking and contract works", he alleged.

The press meet was held as a part of the nation-wide protest of BJP demanding resignation of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in connection with various scams pertaining to coal block allocation, 2G Spectrum, VIP helicopter deal and others that have tainted the image of UPA Government at the Centre.

Chaoba mentioned that the coal block allocation scam happened during 2004 and 2009 when Dr Manmohan Singh was holding the portfolio of coal ministry.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had allocated 143 coal blocks to eminent industrialists without holding any competitive bidding.

The State BJP President further alleged that in the aftermath of the scam, Dr Manmohan Singh asked PMO Joint Secretary Satrugan Singh, Joint Secretary of Coal Ministry AK Bhalla and Union Law Minsiter Ashwani Kumar to tamper the status report of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the scam.

It is evident that the Prime Minister was very much involved in the scam and he made Law Minister Ashwani Kumar to resign merely to save himself from the scam.

Chaoba went on to allege that the 2G Spectrum allocation was also carried out by former Union Minister A Raja at the behest of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The UPA Government led by the Congress Party is now plagued with so many scams and scandals.

The recent cash-for-post scam in Railway Ministry, Adarsh Housing scam, VIP helicopter deal, land privitization scam and many others are looming over the UPA government.

He also crtiticized Manmohan Singh as the weakest Prime Minister ever since India got independence.

"Manmohan Singh is tainted with scams and he has no moral right to continue with the office of Prime Minister.

He should resign from the Prime Ministership at once", the state BJP president reiterated the demand of his party.

Chaoba further lambasted the state Congress government for its inability to take up any concrete step for development of the State and said that the State Government has failed to check influx of immigrants which are threatening the indigenous people.
