Training / input distribution programme held

A 1-day awareness and training cum input distribution programme was conducted at Awang Leikai, Mana Inkhol, Imphal West district on Sunday.
The programme conducted under the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Kharif Pulses, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, was focused on encouraging the cultivation of mung and urdbean pulses, particularly in rice fallow areas, to boost agricultural sustainability and productivity.
At the event, Dr Manoranjan Biswal, Jr Plant Breeder and Scientist i/c, AICRP on Kharif Pulses, CAU Imphal, highlighted the significance of these pulses, their adaptability to local conditions, and their role in improving soil health and farmer incomes.
The training also covered key crop management techniques, pest control strategies, and efficient use of inputs.
To support the farmers, essential tools like spades, sickles, and battery-operated sprayers were also distributed to 35 farmers in the region, aiming to enhance their farming practices and overall productivity.
