Speech Competition on Sardar Patel's legacy held

In connection with the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, the Waikhom Mani Girls College (WMGC), Thoubal in collaboration with its NSS Unit jointly organised a speech competition on the legacy of Sardar Patel at the college campus today.
Held under the theme "My Inspiration Sardar Vallabhai Patel", the inaugural event of the competition was graced by WMGC College Principal, Professor H Manoranjan Sharma; Assistant Professor of Dept of Geology, Dr Laishram Sunil; and Dept of Physical Education, Lecture Dr Parlin Okram as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor H Manoranjan Sharma highlighted that in connection with the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, various colleges across Thoubal district have been conducting a series of cleanliness drives and competitions under the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Hannah Kahmei, with WMGC too taking active part in various events.
He stated that the speech competition was aimed to showcase the knowledge and understanding of students about the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, who played a pivotal role in the unification of India.
As part of the ongoing celebration, Professor Sharma stated that a Padayatra will also be organised and flagged off from Khongjom Kheba Ching on November 20 .
