PAC observes 42nd foundation day

The 42nd foundation day of Performing Arts Centre (PAC) was observed today accompanied by a showcase of Manipur Classical Dance (Pancha Taal) .
The event was held at PAC hall located at Khurai with the attendance of Yumkhaibam Thoithoi alias Bode, Administrative Committee Member, Zilla Parishad, Khurai Chingangbam Leikai; Thangjam Mani Singh, president, PAC; Lairikyengbam Kanonbala Devi, chairperson, Gram Panchayat, Khurai Chingangbam leikai and Arambam Tombinou Devi, Sangeet Natak Awardee and retd Pradhan Guru of JNMDA as the presidium members.
The event kicked off with the offering of floral tribute to the deceased members and artistes of the Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Yumkhaibam Thoithoi said that the rich art and culture of Manipur act as identifiers of the State before the global audience.
He called more such showcases of classical dances such as the Pancha Taal which has the potential to promote and uplift classical dance forms.
Meanwhile, Ramananda Sairemcha, programme coordinator, PAC presented a detailed report of the cultural activities organised by the Centre in the past year.
Additionally, Konsam Kumar, choreographer of the pancha Taal production gave a brief description of the showcase.
At the event, PAC also honoured two artists with memorable gifts.
