CME / workshop on "Paediatric Cardiac Surgery" held

A Continuing Medical Education (CME) cum Workshop on "Paediatric Cardiac Surgery" was conducted today at Banting Hall, RIMS, Imphal.
According to a release issued by RIMS Imphal, the CME cum Workshop was organised by Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Unit, RIMS, Imphal in association with Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, NHM Manipur and Association of Surgeons of India, Manipur State Chapter.
The CME cum Workshop was inaugurated by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar stated that RIMS will be setting a new milestone by conducting two Paediatric cases of Cardiac Surgery for the first time in Government set-up from Tuesday onwards.
He shared that even though RIMS is 50 year old, there is a lack of manpower in the institute despite having one of the best facilities.
He continued that there are 3 Cardiac Surgeons in RIMS and if the project is successful, RIMS is going to provide treatment for open heart surgery for free to the people of Manipur and neighboring States.
The Director also appreciated all the resource persons for coming a long way to support the system and the team of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram for their faith in the institute.
Prof G Sunil Kumar further thanked Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; Prof Th Chito Singh, organisation secretary and Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam (Dean Academics) for their hard work.
The CME cum Workshop was attended by RK Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Admn), Heads of Departments, faculty, Principal, College of Nursing, RIMS, Imphal, invitees, officials, staff and students.
