Dorendro Memorial School upgraded to Higher Secondary level

Thoubal, June 09 2026: Dorendro Memorial High School, located at Heirok Part-II Khunou in Thoubal district, was formally upgraded to a Higher Secondary School on Tuesday with the introduction of Class XI in the Science and Arts streams.

A function marking the upgradation was held at the school campus and attended by Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) Chairman Takhellambam Ojit Singh as the chief guest.

The programme was presided over by the school's founder, Khundongbam Ingocha Singh.

Among the dignitaries present were former Chairperson of the Manipur State Commission for Women Prof Dr Meinam Binota Devi, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Management and Business Studies, DM College of Commerce, Dr Chithung Mary Thomas, COHSEM Deputy Secretary Naorem Shaheb Singh, Controller of Examinations Oinam Joy Singh, Deputy Inspector of Schools, Zone-III Thoubal, Thoudam Brojen Singh, and Principal Naorem Radhamani Devi.

The school will commence its Higher Secondary classes from June 11.During the programme, teachers, management committee members and head masons who contributed to the construction of the school building were felicitated.

Students also presented cultural performances, adding colour to the celebration.

Speaking on the occasion, COHSEM Chairman Takhellambam Ojit Singh highlighted the Council's efforts to improve educational standards in the State.

He noted that COHSEM was among the first educational boards in the country to establish the PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) Cell under NCERT, enabling reforms such as item-wise question setting and question bank development.

He also lauded the contributions of Heirok MLA Dr Thokchom Radheshyam towards strengthening educational infrastructure in the constituency, citing the development and upgradation of several institutions, including Sekmai Khumbi Higher Secondary School, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Ukhongshang Engineering College and DIET, among others.

The function was attended by a large number of teachers, students and parents.
