2nd Pallel Drug Haul:: OC remanded to police custody for 7 days

OC in-charge of Moreh Commando unit SI RK Binorjit alias Bobi , who was arrested by Thoubal Police yesterday in connection with the second drug haul at Pallel recently, was produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Thoubal, today.
A team of 11 police commandos who were intercepted and caught by a team of Thoubal Police Commandos with a huge consignment of drugs while they were trying to smuggled out the same to Moreh at Pallel on April 28, had alleged that the drug consignment was being carried at the instruction of SI Binorjit.
On being questioned by N Nouteshori, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thoubal whether he (SI Binorjit) had instructed the 11 Manipur Police Commandos to bring the drug consignment to Moreh, Binorjit denied his involvement in the case at all.

However, since no proper interrogation of SI Binorjit has been carried out to get to the root of the case, the IO of the case and the Prosecution Counsel pleaded the court to give 8 days' police custody for SI Binorjit for necessary interrogation.
However, Kh Arunjoy and Pushpa, the counsel of the accused pleaded before the court to give only four days' police custody.
After hearing both the sides and thorough study of the case, the Chief Judicial Magistrate finally granted seven days' police custody for SI Binorjit and transferred the case to the Special Court of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances for further hearings.
The accused SI would be produced before the Special Court of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances on May 15 .
According to reliable source, during the course of preliminary interrogation of SI Binorjit, it has been known that two other drug smugglers are still left to be arrested in connection with the drug haul.
The two drug smugglers have been identified as Menshang of Moreh ward no.1 and one Azad of Lilong.
Moreover, one Ali alias Liyakat Ali, who reportedly handed over the drug consignment to the police commando team is still on the loose.
But SI Binorjit has denied knowing anyone by the name of Menshang and he knew only one Ali from Moreh and not from Lilong.
