"Festival of books" begins

With an aim to foster reading habits and allay some of the mental turmoil faced by the people due to the ongoing conflict, The Readers Book Store organised a five-day "Festival of books" at MFSDS courtyard, Palace Compound on Sunday.
For the first time in the State, the book fair will provide a discount of minimum 20 per cent on all titles including Meeteilon literature.
Moreover, buy two get one free offer is also given on select titles.
Several books ranging from fiction, non-fiction, classics, Meeteilon literature, North East titles and academic books are available at the book fair.
Speaking in this regard, The Readers Book Store coordinator Damudor Arambam highlighted that people of the land are in distress due to the prolonged conflict which has been going on for nearly two years.
"With the festive season approaching, we are implementing our approach to alleviate some of the mental trauma caused by the conflict through events like this book fair.
Our goal is to foster a reading culture among the people and transform Imphal into a city of readers", he added.
Damudor Arambam further appealed to the people to attend and collectively celebrate the festival of books, making it a grand success.
