Imphal, July 08 2026:
Shija Eye Care Foundation (SECF), in collaboration with Brighter Academy, Khumbong, conducted a two-day Free School Eye Screening Camp on July 6 and 7, 2026 .
The camp was organised under the AIOS Project-Nationwide Assessment of the Prevalence of Refractive Errors and Effective Refractive Error Coverage (eREC) Among School-going Children in India.
During the camp, a team from SECF screened around 700 students, and 96 pairs of spectacles were distributed to children requiring vision correction.
Officials said early detection of refractive errors in children can prevent learning difficulties and improve academic performance.
The initiative aimed to promote timely intervention and ensure better access to quality eye care for school children.
SECF reiterated its commitment to reaching more schools across the state and supporting nationwide efforts to reduce preventable blindness among children through regular screening and appropriate treatment.
